The VW Golf GTI is back and the mundane Mk6 range just got interesting. These are the first pictures of the new Golf GTI, which will be officially unveiled at the Paris motor show next week. Power from the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-pot engine is up, while the looks are inspired by the W12 650 GTI concept from 2007.

The winners of the inaugural Car Design Awards China competition were announced at a glamorous ceremony in the studios of CH-Auto during the Beijing auto show in April, marking the culmination of successful competition. Seven talented students – who had responded to briefs set by GM, PSA Peugeot Citroen, SAIC (with its MG brand) and Volkswagen – were presented with awards in five categories, and five were given the opportunity to attend Northumbria University's Transportation Design course, in the UK, on a two week placement. The five students – Bingyang Hu, Geng Li, Yanchao Wang, Kaiji Pu and Liang Chen – began this exciting, yet challenging journey in December 2009, when they entered the 2010 Car Design Awards China competition.
The Renault Clio Gordini 200
Renault are moving on with their Gordini offerings, this time the Clio with the announcement that the Renaulsport Clio 200 gets the Gordini treatment – Blue with white stripes – and a near £2,000 price premium. Apart from the requisite paint job Renault has added gloss black to parts of the bumpers, shoved a set of white mirrors on and added some bespoke, 17″ alloys. But in fact you don’t ahve to stick to the Gordini Blue colour scheme – you can opt for Black or White instead.
